FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Most FDM printers range between 70 and 150 watts during printing – including heated bed and hotend. A typical 4-hour print at 120W and €0.35/kWh costs about €0.17. A power meter plug gives you a much more accurate reading of your actual consumption.

PLA is the cheapest and most beginner-friendly material – usually €18–25 per 1kg spool. PETG and ABS are slightly higher, technical filaments like nylon or TPU are more expensive. For the cost calculation the price per gram is enough; the calculator handles the conversion automatically.

For hobby use without profit intent, a 0% margin is fine. When selling, aim for a 20–50% markup on total costs, depending on market conditions, post-processing effort and customer service. Also factor in any platform fees and packaging costs.
